Lord, I Give You This Day

Lord, I Give You This Day

Lord, I Give You This Day by Kay Arthur

I’m on day 22 of this little devotional book. Hard bound with a pretty ribbon to mark my day. Slightly larger than the spread of my hand, it fits in my bag or on my chair table. Since I’ve had it, each day has infused God’s word and a bit of encouragement into my day.

A few mornings ago we were talking about a character / sin issue in our home. And I said we’d do some bible study about it later. I went into my room to pray, be still, take a ‘mom time out’. I opened “Lord, I Give You This Day”.  It was January 16, I read these words:

Keep these questions before you today: Can a person really be saved and deny God’s right to rule over his life? Can you call Him “Lord,” refuse to do the thing he tells you to do and still go to heaven? Read Matthew 7:21-27 and meditate on Jesus’ words.

I called the boys in later, we read the day’s devotion together and read Matthew and another suggested verse in Luke 6:46 – Why do you call Me, ‘Lord,Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”

My son sort of gasped.  “How did it know?”  The Bible is living and breathing. The Holy Spirit anxious to bring us closer.

I love little devotional books. I own several. However, I see a trend in authors to want to bestow little happy thoughts to the reader. I don’t want a little happy thought book. That’s why God created Facebook. ha. I want to be encouraged, In the Word. I want to be admonished – In the Word. Exhorted in the Word. Hugged – In the Word.

When I saw that Kay Arthur, the one that turned my whole heart to the Word, had a daily devotional – “366 Appointments with God”, I knew it would be full of His Word, and less of hers. I am glad, so glad, that I was not disappointed.

Are you in a busy season? Need a simple way to be in the word daily?  This may be what you are looking for.  I encourage you to check it out!

"I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review."
